About us

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is located on the 5^th floor of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Facility. The capacity of the department is 50 beds.

The annual number of deliveries is about 2000 (Cesarean sections is in 25-29% of cases). The number is increasing every year.

We assist in labour and in case of complicated pregnancies. We provide care to the citizens of the Republic of Belarus and foreign citizens.

To relief pain in labour, we use an epidural anesthetic or a combined regional anesthesia. To relief pain during surgery, spinal anesthesia or endotracheal anesthesia is used.

We manage high-risk pregnancies, i.e. threatened miscarriage, complications caused by chronic genitourinary diseases during pregnancy, swelling during pregnancy, gestational toxicosis in the first and second half of pregnancy, chronic fetoplacentary insufficiency, hepatosis, etc.).

The specialists of the department also provide postnatal care: follow-up of mothers and newborns, assistance in case disorders of lactation, breastfeeding support, control of the condition of the uterus, management of the disorders associated with recovery of the reproductive system after childbirth, prevention of inflammation of postoperative and postnatal scars and treatment of inflammation.

The department has the following equipment: the electronic fetal monitor, patient monitors, ultrasound machine, and vacuum extraction devices. There is also the clinical laboratory in the department. Tests may be done 24 hours per day. The specialists of the department may carry out X-ray examinations, magnetic resonance tomography and abdominal and heart ultrasound examinations. The specialists of other departments of the hospital provide consultations where required.

The staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Belarusian State Medical University supervise the activities of the Department.
