World Allergy Day is celebrated on July 8.
This day was established by the World Allergy Organization and the World Organization for Immunopathology to raise awareness of allergy symptoms and treatments. An allergy is an atypical reaction of the immune system to external stimuli called allergens.
Allergies are a common disease, and according to WHO, about 40% of the world's population is affected. Allergy symptoms can range from mild (runny nose, skin rashes) to severe, such as bronchial asthma and anaphylactic shock.
The main allergens include plant pollen, food products, house dust mites, mold, household chemicals, medicines, and animal hair. Common manifestations of allergies are rhinitis, dermatitis, and bronchial asthma.
On this day, it is recommended to raise awareness about the symptoms and prevention of allergies, as well as consult an allergist if signs of an allergic reaction appear.
