Every year, hundreds of children and adolescents fall under the wheels of cars, in almost 20% of cases the traffic accident ends death. This applies to both pedestrians and cyclists, skateboarders, rollers ... In order to protect young road users, appropriate measures should be taken as the prevention of children's road traffic injuries.
How to ride rollers: the most important rules.
Control speed and your movements.Remember that at high speeds with rollers it is more difficult to cope than with a bicycle or skiing, since the brakes, as such, are absent. If you have not yet been completely mastered with braking and dropping speed, it is better to roll in a hill than from a hill. Better yet, find a flat area and learn to slow down on rollers.
Dress protection.This applies to all the role -players. Both beginners and professionals. This will help you feel more confident when moving.
Correct fall.Unlike a skateboard, where the fall of ahead is extremely not desirable, on roller skates everything is just the opposite. The fact is that it is more convenient to fall forward, and all protective equipment is designed for this. The main rule of falling is not to fall on straight arms. The fall back is a great danger to your body, namely for the spine and the back of the head.
Body tilt.When skating on rollers, it is very important to always lean forward slightly. In case of loss of equilibrium, observing this rule, you provoke the correct fall - forward.
The legs are always bent and work as shock absorbers.The main function of bent legs is the control of the stroke of the rollers and the correct positioning of the center of gravity, which helps to avoid filling the body to the sides.
One leg is always full of fullness ahead of the other.This position allows you to correctly distribute the center of gravity and performs the following functions: allows you to maintain balance, avoiding overwhelming forward and tipping back, due to increased stability, it helps to avoid falling from the fall of extraneous objects under the "leading" wheel of one of the rollers.
Gently fasten the videos.It is best to tighten the videos to the maximum so that they firmly keep the leg, but do not crush. Thus, the video becomes a continuation of your leg, some types of muscles are unloaded, and it will be easier for you to control the balance and make maneuvers.
Observe caution on wet asphalt.On a damp surface, the clutch of the wheels of the rollers with the road worsens. It is better not to make sudden movements and steep maneuvers. Be prepared for the fact that the legs will slip. Unlike normal skiing, when moving on rollers along slippery surfaces, the amplitude of the body movements should be less. When driving on the "inhibitory" surfaces, you must be prepared for the fact that your legs can suddenly slow down and will throw you forward.
Moving along the road next to cars, cyclists, pedestrians and other road users, it is important to realize that the speed and manner of passing obstacles in road conditions will be different. Accordingly, calculate in advance your trajectory of movement, taking into account the possible behavior of your "neighbors on the street" or their sudden appearance on the roadway.
Sometimes, even in simple situations of being next to cyclists, rollers manage to stick their wheels in a neighbor’s knitting needles, which often serves as a source of serious injuries for both. Also, moving next to the machine, you do not need to hope that "it has better brakes."
Follow the rules of safe skiing, use protection and ride a pleasure!
Safe cycling rules
Safety- This is a set of events. In order for the bicycle trip to be successful, the bicycle should be serviceable and “obedient”: to brake where it is necessary, to go where it was sent and not break in a critical situation.
Before leaving, check:
- Brakes(they must be workers and well adjusted);
- steering wheel(must be firmly fixed);
- wheels(tires should be without damage, the cameras should not lower air, all knitting needles are intact);
- switches(well adjusted, switching should be made smoothly, without excessive efforts);
- chain and bushings, carriage(must work without beats and extraneous noise, lubricated).
In addition, the bike should haveSound signal:Mechanical or electric call. When driving a bike, put on a bicycle helmet. He protects his head from damage during falls. Such a helmet is usually a thin membrane of plastic, which has high shock strength, from the inside, lined with brittle foam, mitigating the blow. There are several more items to protect your body from shocks: these are knee pads and slabs - do not forget about them.
If the bicycle is used in the dark or in conditions of insufficient visibility on the bicycle should be installed in front of the white flashlight, and in the back - a lantern or retroreflector (cataphot) of red color. On each side, the bicycle should have a red -reflectors (cataphos) of red or orange. The front retroreflector is fixed at the upper end of the front fork, the rear - under the saddle or on the bridge of the rear trunk, and the side - on the knitting needles of the wheels. When the child rolled on roller skateboards, skateboard or bicycle, or just crosses the road, the driver may not notice it, but the reflective icon increases the chances of being seen: when driving with the near light of the headlights, the driver sees a pedestrian for 25-150 m, with long-range light-for 400 m. The cost of reflective elements is incomparable with the price of the child’s life.
The rear -view mirror, fixed on the steering wheel, helmet or glasses of the cyclist, allows you to see vehicles approaching from behind, without interfering at the same time to control the road conditions in front.
Be careful in choosing clothes for a trip, do not dress wide pants, because They can fall into the gears or in a spinning wheel. Dress bright, noticeable clothes, which, if possible, tightens the body (in order not to get into the rotating parts of the bicycle and not to catch on external obstacles). Always dress shoes that have a firm sole and a rough tread so that the legs do not slide along the pedals. For driving in the evening and at night, it is desirable that there are special reflective stripes on the clothes - these lanes will not allow drivers not to notice a person on the road. This applies to the backpack.
Be sure to carry with you the funds against the “asphalt disease” - a bandage, green or iodine, hydrogen peroxide. Learn to provide first aid and use the above medicines - this can save not only you.
How to slow down?
There is a general principle that the brakes should be used as little as possible, and instead try to anticipate the traffic situation and respond to it in advance, for example, stop pedaling. The braking should be as softer as possible. In case of a need for sharp braking, it is better to use the rear brake. And during long segments, it is better to use both brakes with brakes evenly.
Where can I go?
Cyclists should move along a bicycle path or a combined path, if any. Combined paths are designed for pedestrians, cyclists and, sometimes, for mopeds. Such paths are indicated by special road signs. In their absence, driving along the sidewalks is allowed, and only in extreme cases - in the extreme right lane (no further than 1 meter from the edge of the carriageway). At the same time, follow the road at the edge of the carriageway: garbage and glass may occur there, it is possible to get into an open hatch or drain.
Children under 12 years of age should ride a bicycle only along the sidewalk. You can’t drive a bicycle around highways, as well as where there are special prohibition signs.
For cyclists, there are the same rules for the passage of intersections as for motorists. Do not forget to show the turning direction with your hand before turning.
The cyclist who leaves the bike path to the roadway must skip all vehicles.
Vehicles pass the cyclist only if they are prescribed by the presence of the signs “give way” or “Stop” or they turn on the road that the cyclist crosses.
The cyclist must obey traffic lights. When turning, the cyclist must skip pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing.
At some intersections for cyclists there are separate traffic lights.
In this case, the cyclist must obey the signals of the traffic light for cyclists.
While driving in rainy weather, the cyclist should be extremely careful, because the brakes work much weaker and sliding increases. We recommend choosing a minimum speed limit and be very careful in the bends.
How to act in an accident?
The first thing you have to do is evaluate how wounded you are. If you yourself cannot determine your condition, do not feel pain, ask other people to examine you. In case of suspicion of injury, call an ambulance.
Try to realize what happened, who were participants in the accident, witnesses. Write down cars. Sove some witnesses and write down their addresses and phone numbers. Call the traffic police officers. After an accident, think about whether you can get home yourself, if necessary, ask someone to bring you home or hospital.
Respect other road users, try to avoid conflict situations! Do not forget to inform motorists in advance about your maneuvers with generally accepted gestures of hands. Forget about driving in headphones with music on roads. Melodies are not only distracting, but sometimes they can provoke a reassessment of their strength and capabilities, lead to unpleasant consequences.
Beware of dogs! If you notice dogs from afar, then slow down or stop completely, estimate the distance to them, their behavior and condition. If they did not notice you and continue to do their own business peacefully, then you should not climb into the wolf, but just try to go around them at a safe distance without attracting attention. If they are at a fairly close distance and became interested in you, then it makes sense to stop and get off the bicycle, observing the reaction.
In the late time of the day, it is preferable to move along well -viewed, lit streets, and not by courtyards, squares, parks. Seeing a suspicious company heading in your direction, take measures immediately: try to move to the other side of the street, if possible you need to accelerate as much as possible to avoid contact, follow their further behavior.
Compliance with these recommendations will help make your bicycle walks comfortable and safe, which will only provide pleasant emotions!
