Department of Trauma and Orthopedics was established in 1976.
In 1993, the department-based City Center for Hand Surgery was established. The key goal of the center was to provide consultations, medical and preventive care to the patients with hand abnormalities.
In 1994, the City Center for Hand Surgery was reorganized into the Republican Center for Hand Surgery pursuant to Order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.
In 2003, after the reconstruction, the department of trauma and orthopedics became the division of the City Clinical Center for Trauma and Orthopedics of the 6th City Clinical Hospital. The capacity of the department is 55 beds. It provides diagnostic, treatment and preventive services. The core activities of the department are to promptly provide high-quality specialized inpatient trauma and orthopedic care to the patients with injuries or diseases of the hand. All citizens of the Republic of Belarus and foreign citizens may get medical services, including paid medical services. The specialists of the Department perform surgery for flexor and extensor digitorum tendon injuries, joint replacement surgery and arthroplasty in case of diseases of injuries of the hand joints.
The hospital and the surgery unit have the state-of-the-art equipment. Thus, the medical specialists may carry out ultrasound examinations, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, X-ray examinations and arthroscopy, and many other diagnostic procedures and treatment.

Department of Trauma and Orthopedics No.2 is one of the clinical bases of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics of Belarusian State Medical University. P.I. Bespalchuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, and A.I. Volotovsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, supervise the activities of the department. The staff of the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics of Belarusian State Medical University are involved in all activities of department of trauma and orthopedics No.2, i.e. they carry out diagnostic procedures, prescribe treatment, do the rounds, discuss cases at conferences and councils, perform surgeries, etc.

INFORMATION ABOUT CONSULTATIONS
The medical specialists provide consultations in accordance with referrals issued by the physicians from all health care establishments of Minsk and the Republic of Belarus. They also provide paid consultations.
All consultations are provided from 9.00AM to 2.00PM on working days in the consultation room located on the 4th floor of the Trauma and Orthopedics Facility. Patients are consulted on the fist-come first-served basis. No prior appointment or appointment card is required. The consultation schedule is available in the department. Physicians’ full names are specified in the schedule.
INFORMATION FOR VISITORS
Before visiting, please, take off your outer clothing and put on a gown. Make sure your shoes are clean or use shoe guards. Only one person may visit a patient.
You may visit patients
- on working days from 5.00PM to 7.00PM;
- on weekends and public holidays from 11.00AM to 1.00PM, from 5.00PM to 7.00PM.
You need to get a permit from the Chief of the Department or attending physicians to visit bed patients. Visiting hours are from 9.00AM to 7.00PM (except for the rest-time from 3.00PM to 5.00PM) on the days stated in the permit.
